Biography

      Carmen Angelica is a writer, director, and comedian based in New York, NY. A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of Film and Television, Carmen currently works as a Segment Director at (Emmy winning) The Daily Show.  Previously, Carmen has worked as a comedian and director creating sketches, series, branded content and several short films. Her work can be seen on CollegeHumor, Cracked.com, Reductress, UCBcomedy.com and on the UCB show.
      Carmen's directing work on Sneaking Into Your Own Movie for CollegeHumor and Universal was nominated for a Webby in April of 2020.  In 2019 Carmen was named a New Faces Creator at Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival. Carmen's pilot Bitch From Season 3 was a Top Ten Finalist at Cinequest and made it to Austin Film Festival as a 2nd Rounder in 2018.
      Additionally, Carmen came up in the improv scene at UCB doing improv, writing sketch and directing for their house teams. She had a successful long running solo show that she wrote and starred in directed by Rebecca Drysdale called Who Am I And What The Hell Am I Doing? She currently directs at the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York for the house sketch team VILLAINS when she's not directing at The Daily Show.
      Her first short film, Tight Spot, that she wrote and starred in was featured as a Staff Pick on Vimeo in 2015. Outside of the festival circuit, Carmen’s work has been featured in Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, Who HaHa, Vulture, and Huffington Post. Carmen is currently repped at Odenkirk-Provissiero Entertainment.
